Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals require a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Didsbury, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the chosen vehicle category must be provided, along with identification and proof of your current address. Additionally, valid payment details and a security deposit are required, along with any further conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Didsbury office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed to document the state of the car. When returning the vehicle, please ensure it is in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account reasonable wear and tear. Any new damage will be assessed and charged appropriately. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as it was provided; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur additional fees, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be accountable for any parking tickets, traffic infractions, or charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Detailed coverage information and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to help minimize your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess unless additional coverage applies. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise details, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky behaviors is not allowed. The transport of hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized individuals to drive is unacceptable. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is prohibited. The vehicle must be used as intended, adhering to passenger and weight restrictions. Operating the vehicle beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without explicit permission is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Didsbury is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Didsbury Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
